芝士煙肉薯球

材料

水牛芝士(Mozzarella) 少許
煙肉 4條
粟米 1條
馬鈴薯 2個
酸忌廉 2茶匙
葱粒 少許

調味料

黑椒 少許
鹽 少許

步驟

  1. 先將馬鈴薯去皮切件,蒸15分鐘備用。
  2. 粟米放入水烚15分鐘,切粒備用。
  3. 煙肉放焗爐焗至脆,切粒備用。
  4. 馬鈴薯取出壓成茸,下調味料伴勻。
  5. 將薯茸弄成球狀放碗中,灑上煙肉、粟米、芝士、葱粒和酸忌廉即成。

貼士

  1. 薯茸可加入少許牛油,增添香味。
  2. 若沒有焗爐,可將煙肉下白鑊煎至脆。

Cheese and Bacon Potato Balls

Ingredients

Mozzarella Cheese a little
Bacon 4 strips
Corn 1 cob
Potatoes 2 pieces
Sour cream 2 tea spoons
Diced green onion a little

Seasoning

Black pepper a pinch
Salt a pinch
Bake the bacon in the oven until they turn crispy. Then, cut them into small pieces.
Mash the potatoes, add in the seasoning, then, stir until they’re mixed.
Form the mashed potato into a shape of a ball and place it into a bowl. Sprinkle on the bacon bits, corn, cheese, sour cream and serve.

Steps

  1. Peel and dice the potatoes. Parboil for 15 minutes and drain for later use.
  2. Parboil the cob of corn for 15 minutes. Then, cut off the corn for later use.

Tips

  1. You can add a little bit of butter into the mashed potato for a more buttery scent.
  2. If you don’t have an oven, you can fry the bacon strips on a pan over the stove.

Potatoes are rich sources of complex carbohydrates, proteins and fibre, they also contain vitamin B complex, vitamin C, iron, potassium and polyphenols. Complex carbohydrates in potatoes can provide energy for children’s needs; and dietary fibre can stimulate satiety, minimizing the possibility of over-eating in children. If sprouting or color change (green color) is present on the potatoes, DO NOT eat them, as these changes imply that there are toxins called “alkaloids” present in the potatoes. This type of substance is toxic, and may lead to discomfort of gastrointestinal tract, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, etc. In serious conditions, alkaloids might even affect the central nervous system, leading to paralysis. Nevertheless, food technologies such as “irradiation” inhibits the sprouting in potatoes, and most potatoes have gone through the irradiation process before being sold on the market, thus the chance of leading to toxicity is low.
